ANIMAL RESCUE RE-SELLS SHOES to FUND SURGERIES
This is a remarkable idea that simply needs the help and support of the animal loving community and lots of shoes....
About five years ago we started San Felipe Animal Rescue, located on the Northern end of the Baja Penninsula in San Felipe. Raising money for SFAR, even though we are a 501-c3 non-profit corporation was near impossible due to the fact we are located in Mexico, and U.S. grant givers and foundations are not chartered to fund outside the contiguous United States. However, having said that, that did not change the fact that we had 10,000 stray and indigent dogs and cats on the streets and in the desert that needed to be fixed ASAP so we could get ahead of the ?production line.?
One day, we had a brainstorm, and started to sell donated items from supporters, shoes, clothes, etc., and other ?stuff? we got at thrift stores in the states on eBay. Who knew? Shoes, became the centerpiece of our online eBay business and they were not only easy to find, but there are so many "shoe addicts" in the world that buy shoes and wear them for 10 minutes or never wear them at all, that donations were strong and active and money for spaying and neutering became more available.
Currently, we spay and/or neuter 100-125 dogs and cats every month at two bi-weekly clinics. This costs SFAR about $3500 a month and we work with Mexican vets and volunteers. Shoe sales on eBay fund every penny of it. So, if you?re a ?shoe addict? or no someone that is, nothing to be ashamed of, please send us your barely worn to brand new shoes, both men?s and women?s, so we can sell them on eBay and turn the money into surgeries.
